It is very important that you follow all the instructions of this Travel Information site. Please don't send checks or money by the public mail service of Guatemala, because it is not safe. When you arrive at the school, you will pay your complete tuition, using U.S. Dollars cash or Quetzales, our guatemalan currency. |

How to get to Guatemalensis Spanish School: |

Flight Arrangements: Select your flight or Airline according to the best rates in your area. Check your nearest Council Travel office for discounts if you are a student or Professor. Make flight reservations that fit your budget and schedule. You will land in the Aurora Airport located in Guatemala City. |

When you arrive at the International Airport in Guatemala City you will pass through the customs window. After you pick up your checked luggage, go to the bank in the airport and change between $25.00 and $50.00 into Guatemalan Quetzales | ||||||||||
If you arrive late, we suggest that you do not travel to Xela late at night; it is better to spend the night in Guatemala City. We recommend you follow the instructions (information is available if required). The most comfortable way to travel from Guatemala City to Quetzaltenango is by the recommended pullman buses: Alamo run Greyhound style buses. |

If you arrive on time, ask for an authorized taxi and ask the taxi driver for the: Alamo Bus Terminal: 12 Avenida 0-65 Zona 7 Quinta Samayoa. Tel: 2471-8626, 2472-2387, 2472-2355. The schedule of Alamo to Xela is: 6:15 am., 8:00 am., 10:30 am., 12:30 am., 15:00 pm., 16:00 pm., 17:30 pm. (18:00 pm. only Friday) Alamo's Xela station: 14 Ave. 5-15 Zona 3, Tel 7767-4582, 7763-5044 Daily to Guatemala City at: 4:30 am., 6:30 am., 8:00 am., 10:15 am., 12:45 am., 14:30 pm. (Monday: 2:00 am., 4:00 am.), (Friday and Sunday: 16:45 pm.) Other option is: Linea Dorada, Guatemala Station: 16 calle & 10 Ave. 10-03, Zona 1, tel 2415-8900 Daily to Xela at: 8:00 am., 15:00 pm. Linea Dorada's Xela Station: 12 Ave & 5 Calle 5-13, Zona 3 Tel: 7767-5198 Daily to Guatemala City at: 4:30 am, 15:30 pm. The taxi driver will charge about 35-40 Quetzales (5 Dollars) one way. At the bus terminal, ask for a bus to Xela (nickname of Quetzaltenango); the cost is about Q65.00 or Q70.00 one way. At the end of this four-hour trip, you will arrive in the City of Quetzaltenango. Get off the bus at the Quetzaltenango Bus Terminal, The school's address is: 19 Avenue 2-14 Zona 1. If you find that the school is closed, please look for the directors at their home located at 19 Avenue 0-72 "A" Zona 1. The school and the home of the directors are located on the same avenue. |

The best days for arrival to Xela are Saturday or Sunday with classes starting on Monday morning at 8:00 am. (classes can start on days other than Mondays). It is possible to start your stay with the host family upon your arrival. If possible, please contact the Director once you have arrived in Guatemala City from your hotel, guesthouse, or the bus station to confirm your arrival time to Xela. You can reach the Director at home (77651384), or at the school (77651392). Normally the Director's wife, Nora will meet you at Xela's Bus Terminal. If you are on time, and will not be staying in a hotel, you can call the Director from Guatemala's Bus Terminal. Good luck in your travel; normally the Director is at home (77651384) on Saturdays and Sundays and at school (77651392) on Monday thru Friday mornings. If you are arriving late into Guatemala City and would like the school to make a hotel reservation for you, please send an e-mail requesting this (please include your scheduled arrival time into Guatemala City). |
