Volunteer Work

Spanish for Volunteers. It is very important that you  speak Spanish at intermediate level at least in order to communicate in all the social projects.

Guatemalensis Spanish School can make arrangements to put you in contact with organizations for volunteer work.

Since Guatemalensis Spanish School is a NON-PROFIT organization, you don't need to send or pay any Registration or Reservation fee for studies and nor any payment to the School to do volunteer work;  except your own room and board expenses to your homestay provider if you are not enrolled with the school.

If you want to do some voluntary work, all places require a commitment of at least 2 weeks for  volunteering.

You will need to describe your skills and background; and remember, it is very important that you  speak Spanish at intermediate level at least in order to communicate in the projects and that time is not for practice or learn spanish nor for extend your vacations or travel time.

  • Some samples of opportunities are in fields of:

Volunteer workers with a high degree of responsibility to the working with children and youth in risk conditions.

Habitat for Humanity: a housing organization that welcomes volunteers from all religions and walks of life, dedicated to eliminating substandard housing around the world. It is a legal NGO which specializes in community organizing, technical assistance and the construction of low - cost housing. Many times they ask the volunteers to pay some fee for participation.

Teaching of English as Second Language, computing and other subjects for children in the rural area.

         In a Medical Clinic.

         In a Hospital.

         In a Nursery for Children.

If you want to learn Spanish, learn about a culture and have fun at the same time, Guatemalensis is a great school to attend. I spent around 4 months studying at the school and my experiences there are invaluable. I learned a lot about the language and culture and my level of apprehension has increased dramatically. The teachers are extremely qualified and are flexible to each individual students need. I would definitely recommend attending Guatemalensis Spanish School
