Guatemalensis Spanish School is more than a simple Spanish School   

     Is an educational NON-PROFIT year round School centrally located in the Historical Center of Quetzaltenango, at 19 Avenida 2-14 Zona 1, in the safest neighborhood of the city at seven blocks from the Central Park of the City (5 - 10 minutes walking). It was founded, Authorized and Registered in 1990 (Verifiable*). It is located in a three floors building specially designed and built to house the school; so, you will study in a comfortable atmosphere and not piled at any rented dirty house, or apartment.

     *As a result of its high Quality of Teaching, Program, Methodology and Activities, GSS was the FIRST School in Quetzaltenango to be Authorized and Registered by the Ministry of Education and the Tourist Commission of Guatemala (Verifiable). Note: All Spanish Schools in Xela began to be approved, authorized and Registered in 1990.

     GSS was founded and is managed by Guatemalans, and is a founding member of the Quetzaltenango's Spanish Schools Association.

       GSS is the first school in create, develop and use the leadership, outdoor and mountaineering concepts into the Total Immersion Spanish Language Program.

     Through the School you learn to speak, read, understand, write and translate the Spanish language and acquire new experiences and understanding of the life of this country, Guatemala.

     Our main objective is to provide fast and quality learning of an essential tool -foreign language acquisition- for a wide range of interests and professions.  Our methods are modern and are continuously updated. Our system, which was developed by experienced professionals, has proven to be effective with more than 21,000 students. Many students who have lived this Spanish learning experience have satisfied their yearning for successfully communicating in Spanish in a relatively short time.

     We consider the cost of your time and money to learn a language when you are traveling. In GSS you won't waste your time or money, because of our effective teaching methods.

     I could not have dreamed of a better experience studying Spanish and traveling throughout Guatemala than the one I had while at Guatemalensis!      I had a fantastic experience at Guatemalensis Spanish School in Xela! Rolando and Nora make you feel a part of their family. It's a smaller school, got to know the other students and teachers really well and made some connections to hold onto. Living with a local family was a great way to learn the language...fast! In just 6 weeks I went from no spanish to earning my intermediate certificate. I was able to travel the country "sola" without problems. The one-on-one teaching made for a very personalized learning experience. I was able to do some health education work in the school's social project. If you have something to share, they are more than willing to have you come in and help out. Xela is an interesting area to get to know, lots of culture to appreciate. Unlike Antigua or Panajachel, Xela isn't busting at the seams with other students, I met a lot of locals all willing to help out with my spanish progress.
