 I found my experience at Guatemalensis very rewarding. The teachers and organizers were organized extremely well every day and always had the Spanish lessons planned properly. Several times a week, the student would go on field trips in and around Xela. For example, we went to hot springs, a glass manufacturing factory, a family run carpet manufacturing business and hiked up a volcano.  I studied at Guatemalensis Spanish School for three weeks this year. The school is run perfectly by the charming and funny Rolando and Nora. It is their baby and it shows. They put all their efforts into maintaining the quality of the institution and making the students feel at home. They also come on many of the numerous field trips run by the school. The teachers are all very friendly and patient. The courses are run at each students' pace and adjusted to their needs. I have learnt enough Spanish to continue my trip through Central America with the ability to catch transport, book rooms and have simple conversations with locals. These excursions are well organised and extremely affordable with only the costs for transportation. They are also highly varied, from volcano hikes to hot springs and even roof top barbeques. They offer fantastic opportunities to see the area as well as a chance to practice your new linguistic skills.
